Some divine advice on hoarding ,while I was' lepacking' on www.quranexplorer {after half a day getting tired of hearing the moans and groans of my patients in the clinic},which I find interesting and want to share with you guys :
" The life of the world is but a sport and a pastime . And if ye believe and ward off [ evil ] .He will give you your wages and will not ask of you your worldly wealth . [ 36 ] If He should ask it of you and importune you , ye would hoard it , and He would bring to light your [secret ] hates .[37 ]
Lo ! Ye are those who are called to spend in the way of Allah , yet among you there are some who hoard . And as for him who hoardeth , he hoardeth only from his soul . And Allah is the Rich ,and ye are the poor. And if ye turn away He will exchange ye for some other folks , and they will not be the likes of you [ 38 ] .
You will notice here Allah is in a" perli mood ' .He knows most of us ,even though we 'believe' susah sangat nak part with our worldly possessions ,pasal Dia dah tahu kalau Dia mintak pun ramai yang find it susah nak ikut pasal sayang dunia sangat .He ended the Surah with a veiled warning though that kalau you kedekut aangat in the way of Allah you are just kedekut to your own soul .He would disown you and your kinds !Reminded me that zakat harta tahun ni 'pong' belum selesai lagi .Masha allah Dunia !! Ni Allah belum panggil berjihad lagi , baru masaallah" tax" 2 1/2 % saja!

Pearls and Gem from Surah Al Jathiya[ Letter 45 : Verses 23 , 24 ]
" Has thou seen him who maketh his desire his god . and Allah sendeth him astray purposely , and seeleth up his hearing and his heart , and setteth on his sight a covering ? Then who will lead him after Allah [ hath condemned him ] ? Will ye not then heed ? [ 23 ]. And they say :There is naught but our life of the world , we die and we live , and naught destroy us save time , when they have no knowledge whatsoever of [ all ] that , they do but guess .[ 24 ]

Surah Al Anbiya , The Big Bang and a Century of Science

I was discussing verse 30, from Surah Al Anbiya, alluding to the fact that 'heavens and earth originally started from one point' which opens up the paradox of the uncertainty of matter ,a well known paradox in non particle physics .The Big Bang Theory behind the early origin of the universe came into view . For the spiritually inclined, this particular verse when viewed with present scientific postulation of the origin of this universe from a 'singularity point' [ a quantum physics term meaning 'nothing, with no mass nor volume,], the concept of Kun Fayakun come into mind, and the spirit warms up to it and the hearts melt with increased piety and taqwa to the One God.
On the other hand knowledge without wisdom, as the ensuing discussion with an eminent friend of mine from the USA who share the same 'crazy' passion as mine on endurance horseback riding, exemplified the fact that specialised knowledge per se is double edged and does not gurantee faith :"Dia boleh membuka jalan ke arah kepercayaan yang nyata dan abadi dan pada masa yang sama bolih juga membawa kearah kekusutan .""Hanya AKU yang membuka pintu hati manusia , kamu [ Muhammad] hanyalah tidak lebih dari menyampai maklumat"" .His background was very much steeped in Quantum and Theoretical Physics.
To me ,if any hardcore scientist was to discover 'GOD", they would be the ones .They deal into realms way above you and me .The Einsteins , Carl Sagans and Stephens Hawkings of their world could literally 'calculate' and investigate God's 'fingerprints' on this vast universe quantify the probability of the universe happening as an accident as an odd of one to several billion billion billion billion.If they want , they would be the perfect Muslims yesterday but these poor souls as most of the people around the world today were rich in knowledge but lack that inner wisdom to differentiate between the trees,branches and leaves from the forest! The Lina Joy Case : What It meant To us as Parents
Friends ,
Just finished suboh prayer and feeling quite satisfied as
parent'dapat kejut anak perempuan yang masih sekolah darjah 4 sembahyang
bersama . .Isteri yang tercinta masih enak dengan mimpi2 beliau .Bujang yang
dua orang lagi tak gerenti boleh catch up dengan suboh sebab when I woke up
earlier to hear the lilting rendition of qari Mishari Rashid of surah Al
Noor from www.quranexplorer at 4 am ,they were just going to bed ,thanks to
ASTRO !
If that sounds familiar ,mine is probably just an average upper middle class KL family with both parents on the wrong side of 50.Perhaps we guys just hitting 55 are just too sensitive with
what we have 'acheived ' or not acheived on the 'non material' aspect of family upbringing,or just thinking laterally the
'karat2' jahiliah which we have collected or have not erased over the
accumulating years .Looking this way ,life can be a wee bit depressing .Ah !
Just the mild deppression of the passing years .
Suddenly my thoughts went the direction of Lina Joy .How is this
seeminly simple and average Quran reading, kampong girl brought up in typical average
'Malay' way in Setiu,Terengganu ,now coping with life ? Hati batu kah dia sampai bolih
meninggalkan keluarga yang tercinta dan akidah yang solid dan seterusnya
berpegang kepada aqidah trinity yang begitu pagan sekali ? Apakah parent
beliau beri over 25 years or so sampai jiwa beliau begitu kosong sekali
dapat meninggalkan Islam dan berpegang kepada dahan yang rapuh .
On that count I could recollect a casual conversation I had with a young French lady somewhere
near Toulouse while visiting an old chateau some years back while on National duty riding for the country in rural France .I asked her whether France" is
unofficially Catholic" .She proudly replied the French on the whole has
unshackled themselves from the paganism of Trinity and 'we are proud to be
secular ' .And here we have Lina Joy coming down from the very height of
darul Islam into darul Trinity .What has gone wrong ???
Blame Jais ,Mais, Kais ,Nais , ,Blame the Prime Minister ,blame the
education system ??? Blame ourselves .Yes ,blame ourselves ."Kita Melayu banyak penyakit" .Sorry boss ,I dare say again , "Kita Melayu banyak penyakit "
.As parents we failed to impart the
spirit of Islam to our offspring .Macamana kita nak bagi spirit of Islam to
them when we ourselves hanya mengenal Islam hanya pada kulitnya sahaja. Nak
berguru malas ke masjid berbaik2 dengan ulamak .Nak baca kitab2 tafsir dan
writings on Islam ramai dari kita masih berpegang kepada konsep nak belajar
ugama ''mesti dengan guru member !"" Kalau tidak sesat .Bodoh tak apa asal
jangan terlalu pandai ,takut sesat .What bloody nonsense .!
Hingga quran pun
takut nak pergi dekat takut salah 'dengung ' nanti berdosa .Macammana nak
dapat spirit of Islam .Lebih2 lagi macamana nak bawa keluarga kearah Islam ?
.Itu at the personal level .
At the official level lain pula penyakitnya .Our leaders takut dengan Islam.Curricullum ugama di sekolah2 hanya bagus untuk parrot .The masses should not know the real Islam ,kalau tidak susah leaders nak cari 'makan' .

state Religious authority .Orang ugama kah dia . Tidak !! Masyaa llah !!.At
the official level ini pula penyakit nya . The meek in charge of 'ugama'.

Welcome to my Blog .I started my medical career almost exactly 30 years ago ,having graduated from University Malaya in 1978 with MBBS [ bloody hell , it felt like just yesterday when that SYT in that familiar polka dot kebaya passed me by for a senior gentleman for the annual college barn dance !].Now I am a resident "plumber" at one of the premier hospital in Selangor .
Mainly involved on a daily basis in unblocking people's blocked coronories ,and significantly now I keep seeing increasing numbers of people and friends with 'blocked' souls .While the former contribute to my 'bread and butter' existence for which I am thankful to Allah for the "rezeki' and at the same time afforded me with immense intellectual and spiritual pleasure ,it is the latter group that propel me further to know my 'Din' deeper .
For this I must thank the late Prof Hamka for showing me the light through this dark tunnel called 'life' .His voluminous ,ten volume Tafsir Al Azhar which I have gone through twice during those wild days of my youth, reading a page at a time ,sometime many pages at one go ,slowly and surely the 'rust' of jahiliah peeled away to open my mind and soul to the mysteries called 'Islam'.Latter on in life the readings of the venerable Syeikh Ab-dal Kadir al Jilani ,Rumi and Ibnu Arabi et al further provided me with the premise 'to soar' and open my uneducated simple mind to the infinite beauty and timelessness of the Glorious Quran ....
I dedicate this blog to all my friends ,patients with blocked arteries and blocked souls all of whom enriched my life immensely .We met at 'these crossroads' and thought these are incidents of time, but my friends ours have been predecided long before time in the realm of the Unseen .It is a great pleasure and I sincerely hope this is mutual !
